IN THE WORKS: Stone's Cocaine Corvette, Portman's Next Planet & Polley Goes Atwood

– Emma Stone is set to follow up “The Help” and “Crazy Stupid Love” (and the upcoming “The Amazing Spider Man” and “Gangster Squad”)  with “Little White Corvette,” a GK Films project from the writer of “30 Minutes or Less,” Michael Diliberti. A brother and sister’s (Stone) late father leaves them a corvette with a million dollars worth of cocaine from the 1970s. The pair — a wild girl and a nerd — travel to Miami to sell the car. The idea of watching Stone do drug deals is certainly worth a chuckle or two. Who should play her brother? Shooting will kick off in late summer.

– While not confirmed, there’s speculation that Natalie Portman may be ending her post-baby/post-Oscar hiatus by reuniting with “V for Vendetta” filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski for “Jupiter Ascending.” The Warner Bros. sci-fi may shoot this fall after the directors have completed “Cloud Atlas,” but few details are known on the project.  Portman’s slate includes a tentative “Thor 2” (which will have “Game of Thrones” helmer Alan Taylor–not Patty Jenkins–at the helm) and a documentary about veganism.

– Sarah Polley’s unpredictable choice in projects is nothing if not admirable. The writer-director will follow up “Away from Her” (2006) and “Take This Waltz” (2011) with an adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s 1996 novel “Alias Grace,” based on the true story of a 16-year old servant who was convicted of murdering her boss and his housekeeper in 1843. Polley has wanted to make the film since she was 18: the story inspired her to become a filmmaker. Once rights are acquired, Polley will begin the adaptation (more details).
