OK, a brief moment of bragging: In 2011, our 15th anniversary, we had a record-breaking year of traffic growth and revenue. And now, as we’re heading into Sundance 2012 with our largest-ever team, we’re announcing a bunch of well-deserved promotions on our advertising and editorial sides.
James Israel has been promoted to Publisher and VP of Advertising, where he oversees advertising sales and sponsorship as well as business development for Indiewire and the Indiewire Blog Network, leading revenue growth, new products, and other strategies to continue to increase content and quality for Indiewire’s readership of film and television fans, industry and filmmakers. Israel is also involved in advertising and sponsorship campaigns across Indiewire’s sister site, SnagFilms, a free ad-supported independent and documentary movie streaming site with over 3,000 titles.
James has worked with Indiewire since 2001 when he served as Managing Editor for Indiewire’s coverage of the Sundance Film Festival. He’ll continue to work in tandem with me out of Indiewire’s Los Angeles office.
Peter Knegt has been promoted to Senior Editor of Indiewire, where he will continue to write and edit daily for the site as well as function as Indiewire’s Awards Season Columnist, oversee Indiewire’s hugely popular Independent/Specialty Box Office coverage and serve a crucial role in reporting on numerous film festivals from around the world. Eric’s based in Indiewire’s New York office and has been Indiewire’s Chief Film Critic since 2009 and a contributor since 2007, with a specific focus on breaking reviews from film festivals including Sundance, Cannes and Toronto.
Nigel M. Smith has been promoted to Assistant Editor. Nigel will continue to oversee Indiewire’s ongoing Futures series in addition to the dozens of interviews he writes profiling filmmakers, actors and other top talent. He’s based in New York.
