Though Peter Berg will be busy for a good chunk of 2012, putting the finishing touches on his expensive board game/alien invasion movie “Battleship,” the multi-tasking director is keeping the creative juices flowing with some advertising work.
First up, and ready for your eyes, is a new spot for the Mini Roadster. Filmed in Istanbul, the breezy, cheeky spot finds two dudes in an uncompromising position as the Roadster is prepared to tip off the end of a pier and they try to keep it from falling in. Another day, another adventure indeed. And are you watching the Super Bowl? Well EW reported last month that Berg has also helmed the football day spot for the NBC reality singing show “The Voice.” Titled “Vokal Kombat” (yes, it’s spelled that way and no, we don’t know why) the one minute ad will feature the show’s judges Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green engaging in a battle royale that is a riff on the swivel chair rumbles on the actual show. A behind the scenes look at the ad is below.
And while we may have our doubts about the ad for “The Voice,” a few years ago Berg turned heads with his Super Bowl XLIII commercial for Hulu featuring Alec Baldwin which more than one outlet called the best of the year. So we’ll be watching. For now, here’s the Mini ad.
