Marlon Wayans Will Make Directorial Debut With Spoof Of Found-Footage Films Starring Essence Atkins

Essence Atkins and Marlon Wayans will star in the indie comedy/spoof titled Smart Ass, which is decribed as a spoof of all those found-footage flicks that have been released quite a bit in recent years.

Marlon Wayans will direct in what should be his feature film directorial debut.

The Wayans have certainly done well with these spoofs, from Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, to the Scary Movie franchise, to, most recently, Dance Flick, which both Wayans and Atkins both worked on.

They certainly weren’t all box office hits, but, overall, they’ve done fairly well; some even cracking the $100 million box office mark.

And I guess it was only a matter of time before those found-footage flicks were parodied.

No word on when we production begins or when we can expect to eventually see the film.

I don't care for the acting skills of Essence.

The Wayans made a fortune on Spoofs. What the next big thing for them? I got it. I just need to get it to them.

Any word on Marlon's role in the Richard Pryor biopic? Is that even happening anymore?

Haha. Well, any spoofs are better than Friedberg and Seltzer's.
