Homeless Citizens Run for Office in New OWN Documentary "Tent City, USA"

OWN will soon premiere an original documentary with a unique twist on one of the most challenging aspects of the recent recession: homelessness.

Tent City, USA explores a community of nearly 100 homeless people living under a downtown bridge in Nashville, TN, who work to stay together after a devastating flood destroys their land and forces them to evacuate.

As a result of the disaster the municipally run Homeless Commission opens one seat on its council to a resident of Tent City. Tent City USA follows the four candidates as they vie for election and the process of moving the camp and keeping the community together.

Tent City, USA premieres April 5 at 9pm ET on OWN as part of the OWN Documentary Club.
