Listen Now: Producer/Actor Datari Turner Gives Some Insightful Info On The Film Biz

If you missed yesterday’s podcast with model-turned-producer/actor Datari Turner, here’s your chance to listen now and, based on the insight he dropped on us, you’ll be glad you did.  Trust me, it’s an informative discussion worth checking out.

After enjoying a high profile career in modeling, Turner eventually turned to acting appearing in such shows as Moesha and Boston Legal.  Now, he’s making his mark in producing with films like Video Girl and Dysfunctional Friends.

Along with his producing partner Gordon Bijelonic, he’s added quite an impressive list of projects to his credit list including the Sundance Film Festival nominee LUV starring Common as well as the Berlin Film Festival nominee Cherry starring James Franco.

We also discussed all the “drama” surrounding the Taraji P. Henson film, From The Rough.  Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time for Sergio’s film review but don’t worry you can expect to hear it on our next live podcast.

So, don’t forget to join us again this Sunday at 4:00pm/ET for another great show!

Very insightful! He has graced many magazine Covers…but none like Tight Rope Magazine's. He speaks well as he did here about his business (professional and personal); This gentleman is connected historically. As this Producer works his way to becoming a Legend, read about his historical connection at

This is the stuff I thirst for as a writer director. I can always learn and practice writing and director but the "the reel deal" about the business of putting together films and financing. I would love to form a study group with black filmmaker producer to learn the things that Datari Turner.

POWERFUL , POWERFUL POWERFUL Show, you would pay a years worth of tuition in college to get all that information that this gentleman stated right here. it was at times a revelation as much as a shoe that fits. He took the racism right out of the entire equation. He has excellent taste and very varied film slate which is where we should all operate from. Like he said I had knew about about ANOTHER HAPPY DAY and found out a while back that he was a rare Black producer doing a project like that which is great cause that was good film with an excellent cast. But the biggest Bomb that he dropped was the fact , which in the back of our minds in reference to the studio exec's was that they just make the same film over and over again in Hollywood. And when he explained it, it seem like one of those huge Ah Ha moments cause that has less to do with racism and more to do with lay thinking on their part and wanting to just keep a factory like mentality going, like he said bean counters. That was no doubt your super best podcast and yes it needs a part two cause that was going to school and learning from some one who is out there in the business trenches while we are in the creative trenches. magnificent show guys!!!!!
