No shocker - "The Hunger Games" Heading Towards A Massive Opening Weekend And Some History

Of course what the final numbers will be won’t come out until Sunday but right now, judging from the box office take from late Thursday midnight and Friday screenings, The Hunger Games is headed for a spectacular opening weekend. 

Right now it’s projected to make somewhere around $140 million during its opening weekend which will put it in 5th place on the list of the all time biggest box office weekend openings. But insiders are saying that it will probably do even more that which could possibly move it up to 3rd place or higher on the list.

And whatever will be the final opening numbers for Games will be, the film will make history with the biggest box office opening ever for a non-sequel film. 

In case you’re wondering, No.1 on the list is last tear’s Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 which grossed over $169 million in its opening weekend and number two was The Dark Knight which made about $158.5 million in its opening weekend

There is more than one actor in Hunger Games? Based on their marketing, I thought Jennifer Lawrence was playing all of the roles.
