Zoe Saldana In Talks To Play Christian Bale's Ex-Wife In "Out of the Furnace"

Zoe Saldana is currently in talks to star with Dark Knight's Christian Bale in the drama Out of the Furnace, written and directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart). Out of the Furnace, a "gritty throwback to 1970s movies" according to Variety, and based on Brad Ingelsby's script The Low Dweller, revolves around an ex-con, played by Bale, who is determined to avenge the death of his younger brother once he's released from prison.

Saldana would play a waitress married to the town's sheriff and Bale's ex-wife. Robert Duvall and Viggo Mortensen are slated to star as Bale's uncle and the film's villain respectively.

Although Relativity Media has not greenlit the project and the actors have yet to be confirmed, the producers are looking to begin filming in late spring. Relativity will be producing with Ridley and Tony Scott's Scott Free and Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way and Brooklyn Weaver of Energy Entertainment.

Zoe Saldana stars opposite Bradley Cooper in the thriller The Words, which premiered at Sundance last January. She is also reprising her role as Uhura in the Star Trek sequel, currently in production and due out next year.

Wait. Did someone actually say that Poor Zoe isn't in position to choose her leading men? LOL. Is that going to be the excuse now? If a black male star has a non-black love interest he is to blame because he can make the decisions (wtf?). But those poor, downtrodden black female stars like Zoe don't have any say and therefore its okay. After all….they are trying to advance their careers. Okay. Yet if a black actor tried to advance his by expanding his base in that fashion black society throws a hissy fit. Hypocritical much? It is comedic at this point because Zoe is on track to be the love interest of every white male star in the world, but, hey, she's a victim you know? This lady may already have more white onscreen love interests than all the black male stars of the past twenty years combined and doesn't even get a fraction of the venom directed at those guys when they do one film with a leading white lady. And by the way Zoe is extremely choosy in regards to what roles she plays. She has plenty of choices and increasingly more clout. Do you think she ever stops and suggests to herself that maybe she shouldn't be exclusively the prize of white men on the big screen? Evidence suggests the answer is "no". And to be fair that should not be held against her. But if Denzel or Will ever came close to doing something like that we would be bombarded with complaints that they are rejecting black women by doing this and that their decisions have a negative effect on the self-esteem of black women blah, blah, blah. The game is ridiculously one-sided. Last of all didn't certain posters on this site attack black actors who dated/married white women , talked bad about them as if they were the scum of the Earth and that they should not be cast in movies considering how they have alienated black females? And yet Zoe hooks up only with white guys both on and off the screen but she is treated as a heroic icon by many of those same posters. Interesting.

"Zoe has publicly acknowledged that she's a black women of Dominican descent", Well you can't dispute the obvious, your skin tone won't let you, and that's really the only thing that matters in today's society. This is how Whiteywood has been running for years, nothing new here, they pick and choose who they think will bring in the dough.

She doesn't "do" black men anymore. So, of course her ex would be Christian Bale…
