David Michôd’s feature debut “Animal Kingdom” landed on many Best of 2010 lists and broke out the director as well as star Joel Edgerton. The Australian writer-director has finally named his next project, “The Rover,” which is based on an idea he hatched up with Edgerton (flip cam interview below) about a man on a mission to get his stolen car back, which holds something invaluable.
Edgerton may not have time to star in the film; he’s been busy of late, from “Warrior” and “The Thing” to the upcoming “The Great Gatsby,” Kathryn Bigelow’s Bin Laden project and “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: ‘His’ and ‘Hers.'”
“The Rover” will be shot in Australia this fall for David Linde’s Lava Bear and Australia’s Porchlight Films. Here’s our interview with the director and “Animal Kingdom”‘s Jacki Weaver, who sings his praises.
