Carey Mulligan Out, Rooney Mara In For Spike Jonze's Untitled Film With Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams & Samantha Morton

As far as switcheroos go, director Spike Jonze can’t really complain as his upcoming untitled effort has lost one hot young actress, only to be replaced by another.

Variety reports that citing scheduling issues (perhaps to do with her recent marriage to that Mumford & Sons dude?), Carey Mulligan has bounced out of the movie, with “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star Rooney Mara lining up to replace her. Jonze penned the script that will apparently revolve around a man who falls in love with a Siri-like computer voice. Mara will finish up “The Bitter Pill” with Steven Soderbergh and then move on to this project, joining Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Samantha Morton. Fincher to Soderbergh to Malick to Jonze? Not bad.

Megan Ellison is producing the flick, which will mark Jonze’s first feature since “Where the Wild Things Are.”

If we're talking about Siri-like computer voices then Mulligan is definetely the better choice over Mara! I love Mulligan and her tone of voice, heck i just love Mulligan full-stop! Lucky bastard who got to marry her.

this industry is ridiculous – two actresses completely different from each other apparently can have the same role… producers don't care about who's actually right, just about who has the buzz.

Rooney Mara has been such lucky since David Fincher. She knows what she wants, maybe less than Carey Mulligan knows what she wants since she is more awesome (though they are both intelligent), since her newlywed with the frontman of Mumford & Sons is just awesomely adorable.

For Spike Jonze, this is not bad Carey Mulligan to Rooney Mara

Nice. I do like it that Mara has been very careful about which roles she chooses since the Dragon Tattoo fame. She turned down Oldboy and Pride and Prejudice Zombies to instead work with auteurs

I'm starting to become a Megan Ellison fan, and yeah Mara has been working with some great directors.

Amazing lineup for next 6 months. I wonder if Sony will go ahead with Dragon Tattoo sequels…

Wow. Cool.
