Alden Ehrenreich joins Viola Davis, Emma Thompson, Jeremy Irons, and Emmy Rossum in potential franchise "Beautiful Creatures." Writer-director Richard LaGravenese adapted the script from Kami Carcia and Margaret Stohl's New York Times bestseller, an intense coming-of-age story about how two star-crossed lovers, Ethan and Lena, uncover dark family secrets.
Ehrenreich , who was discovered as a kid by Steven Spielberg and later cast by Francis Ford Coppola in "Tetro," replaces Jack O’Connell in the role of Ethan Wate. Alcon, which states that O'Connell had scheduling conflicts, has film rights to all three books in the Little Brown series (including “Beautiful Darkness,” and “Beautiful Chaos") and is looking for “Creatures” to launch a trilogy franchise at Warners.
Ehrenreich just completed filming on “Stoker” opposite Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman for Fox Searchlight. Filming on "Beautiful Creatures" begins later this month in and around New Orleans.
