First Look At Jamie Foxx As Django In Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained"

Well, here ya go folks… the marketing campaign for Quentin Tarantino’s highly-anticipated Django Unchained continues in bits and pieces, leading up to that first trailer, which I’m sure will drop any day now. I can feel it :)

Here’s your first official look at Jamie Foxx as the titular Django, as well as Christoph Waltz as Dr King Schultz (or is it just Dr. King?), and Leonardo DiCaprio as plantation master and resident villain Calvin Candie.

The images are courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, who asked Jamie Foxx whether he thinks the film will be controversial? His response: “Oh, hell yeah; You kidding me?”

I think we’ve all been saying that for awhile now, so we’re ready! Bring it!

Django Unchained will be out on Christmas Day.

I really can't understand how any self respecting black person can watch a Quentin Tarantino film. Funny how this man can make film after film with African descended characters but African descended people can't seem to get the same type of funding. smh Not to mention the objectification of African female bodies. I'll pass.

If I see Leo raping Kerry's character, my adolescent crush on him will probably deflate. :(

My biggest worry though is Jamie Foxx's brand of acting which I can only anticipate, whether justified or not, will be a joker/rockstar/backtalking/tryingtobefunny slave?

Oh Gawd…what his Leo doing with that hammer?!?

I also hope Kerry Washington is not exploited in this movie. I am worried if Kerry will be forced to appear nude and her character will be raped. I just hope Tarantino really does explore the complexity of the black female slave and white male master relationship.

White spoiled fanboy director playing with slavery as a genre film. How any self respecting Black film fan can positively anticipate this is a trip to me.

I'm so excited to see what DiCaprio does with not only a villainous role, but a Tarantino villain! I think he's an amazing actor and look at what Carradine did with Bill and what Waltz did with Hans Landa. Excited for it. Great cast.

My only problem with this film (so far) is that I hear the black female body will be objectified. And that, I can't support. I hope Kerry Washington is able to portray the role honestly without being violated or taken advantage of on-screen. Too much to ask?

Looking forward to it.

Got a chance to read the script and loved it. Excited about seeing the movie.

Well, he's no Fred Williamson.

I imagined it a little… grimier…

I am so supporting this movie the first day it comes out on bootleg!
