Here’s the good news: Indiewire has been nominated for a Webby Award, which honors the best of the web. We’re one of five candidates in the Movie and Film Category. And that means we qualify for two awards: the official Webby Award (which is chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences) and the Webby’s People’s Voice Award, which is chosen by the public.
Here’s the bad news (at least as far as we’re concerned): One of the candidates is The Muppets. There’s some other impressive competition in our category — including the websites for “The Tree of Life” and Turner Classic Movies — but when it comes to audience awards, we know that scrappy indies don’t have much of a chance against felt and cleverly placed ping-pong balls.
Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t try. So here’s our blatant plea: Vote for us, as often as you can, for the People’s Voice Award. Help us make a good show. The deadline is April 26 and the winners are announced May 1.
