I’m an art fag living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Besides writing for Indiewire, I do a lot of freelance writing for fashion magazines and film websites, I make films and plays, I DJ, and I Tweet.
Besides receiving Honorable Mention in Sondheim’s National Young Playwriting Contest when I was 11, I have no significant literary accomplishments. I recently discovered a copy of this play in my mother’s file cabinet while I was looking for newspaper clippings of my birth, which disproved my adoption fantasies once and for all. It was called “Elephants Jump The Fence” and it was about a six year old farmgirl having hallucinations of her dead twin sister. It goes without saying that this belongs in the Western Canon and I am only depriving the world of a full-scale, all-star theatrical production out of spite for Kathleen Turner, who refused to play the lead role because she was quote – “busy” – unquote.
After that whole debacle, I started to get really into The White Stripes and I spent the next few years trying very hard to be a tortured adolescent blues guitarist. Then I realized that look was over, so I decided to be a tortured adolescent cinephile, which is really easy to do when you hate high school and you intern at the Harvard Film Archive. Then I dropped out of high school. Then I dropped out of college.
Now I live in a hipster hovel in Brooklyn. I’m writing a few different projects and I’m in post-production on a documentary I directed: “Sophia Lamar: Clown of God.”
I hope to turn 22 in January if the typhoid doesn’t get me first.
Also, I live for this music video:
