Latarsha Rose ("Hunger Games") Joins Gabrielle Union In BET’s "Being Mary Jane"

Latarsha Rose (Hunger Games) has joined the cast of in BET’s hourlong pilot drama from Mara Brock and Salim Akil, Being Mary Jane (previously called Single Black Female) starring Gabrielle Union.

Rose will play Dr. Lisa Hudson, Mary Jane’s best friend from college – "a professional yet conflicted single woman whose strong religious values have driven her to a life of celibacy."

She joins Lisa Vidal, Aaron D. Spears and Richard Roundtree who round out the cast.

By the way, casting for Being Mary Jane is being handled by casting director Twinkie Byrd (Sparkle, Woman Thou Art Loosed: On The 7th Day, others) whom I interviewed last week; that revealing conversation will be posted in the next 48 hours.

So her character is an educated, religious, uptight chick who needs to get laid. No cliches there. I love these reminders about why I got rid of cable years ago.

Haven't seen it, but I guess there WERE mad black people in the Hunger Games; I learn about a new one every day!

Tambay! How could you neglect to add that hunktastic OMARI HARDWICK was also cast in this. Terrible journalistic work. Just terrible!
