While "The Avengers" is preparing for a mega opening if early tracking is any indication, its run at the top of the box office might be a brief one as just a week later, Warner Bros. is dropping the latest Tim Burton and Johnny Depp team-up "Dark Shadows" and they are pushing their flick just as hard as Marvel.
Based on the cult TV show, the picture follows Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) a 17th century vampire who is buried alive and emerges in the 1970s to find things have changed drastically. His manor is being presided over by the family matriarch (Michelle Pfeiffer), the evil witch (Eva Green) who cursed him still desires him, and inventions like the television are utterly fascinating. It's a tricky blend of genre and humor, but it's right in Burton's wheelhouse and this latest endeavor between the two looks to be a very strong return to form.
A batch of new, mostly Depp-centered images has landed for the film, giving another peek at the world we can expect on the big screen. "Dark Shadows" fall on May 11th. [Comic Book Movie]
