Sean “Diddy” Combs Chasing Denzel Washington/Will Smith Dreams; May Be Starring In “Hangover 3”

Sean "Diddy" Combs Chasing Denzel Washington/Will Smith Dreams; May Be Starring In "Hangover 3"

That’s Oscar-winner SeanDiddyCombs to you; Combs won his first Oscar in February after signing on an executive producer on sports documentary Undefeated, which won the Best Documentary Feature Academy Award.

Or maybe I should say, that’s Sean “Diddy” Combs, the man Forbes magazine says is the hip-hopper closest to becoming a billionaire, with an estimated net worth of $550 million.

This morning, courtesy of the Chicago Suntimes, talking about Sean “Diddy” Combs:

Without question, Sean “Diddy” Combs is a renaissance man of many talents, ranging from music star and mogul to shrewd entrepreneur to actor — especially with solid performances in “Get Him to the Greek” and “A Raisin in the Sun.” Now I’ve learned Combs is into making his mark even bigger in front of the camera, with a longtime associate telling me Monday: “Diddy wants to become the next Denzel Washington or Will Smith.” While reportedly about to ink a deal to star in “The Hangover 3” for director Todd Phillips , Combs really wants to use his extensive Hollywood connections to land much meatier roles — both dramatic and comedic.

Also worth noting, from one of his reps talking to the New York Post, “I can tell you Sean is in L.A. aggressively working on his film career and a follow-up to Greek.

This is the first I’m hearing about any connection between him and The Hangover 3; not like we need a 3rd movie in that franchise.

But I should note that Diddy is attached to play a “major role” in an adaptation of George Pelecanos’ Shoedog (a crime drama) along with The Wire regulars Chad ColemanAnwar Glover, and Andre RoyoJohn McNaughton (Wild Things, Mad Dog and Glory) will direct the Stealth Media Group-backed film.

He’s got nothing else lined up, according to his IMDB resume.

So if all this talk about him chasing big screen dreams, the likes of Denzel Washington’s or Will Smith’s, is correct, I suppose we should expect to start hearing Mr Combs’ name mentioned a lot here more here on S&A, from here-on.

Given what I’ve seen of his ability thus far, I’m not sold on his acting. I’d say he’s better at comedy than drama; and I’d suggest that he consider using his name and stature to produce, instead of act.

BUT, I can’t knock the man’s goals and dreams; and if acting is one of them, he certainly has every right to pursue.

Do we really need a third part for the movie Hangover? I though people hated part 2.

As for Diddy, I don't care if he's in the movie or not.

Diddy is a dealer of Black culture. Nothing more… unless you add "pimp" to the description. You can't act if you've got no scruples.

He's just like Beyonce, he CAN't act!!!

I agree that Sean Puffy-Diddy Combs best contribution to the acting industry would be as producer. He has a head for business and developing/managing talent (not convinced of the acting).

Ok guys, you got me on that one. He did come on as exec producer later on in the project, but he wasn't actually awarded a trophy for that.

Correction made.

Wow, Tambay. I'm shocked. You? I've been around on the net shortly after the Academy Awards and saw some people referring to P. Diddy as an Oscar winner, but these are complete laypeople who don't know any better. But you? Wow.

Well, let me reiterate SOSGEMINI's statement in my own way. PUFFY DID NOT WIN AN OSCAR. He may helped financed the film, mainly after it was already receiving critical acclaim and he was on the stage with the true winners taking over their post Oscar win junket as if he won, but he didn't WIN. I just have a simple question. If he did win, what would he be winning for? He came late to the project and best doc only goes to the director(s). Simple logic. It's that same confusion that make laypeople believe Al Gore won an Oscar for "Inconvenient Truth."

But if you don't believe me, just go to P. Diddy's IMDB profile and you'll see it there under his awards – – NO OSCAR.

Wow. I'm so taken aback by Tambay's comment. I'm speechless.

Puff Crappy is *not* an Oscar winner. These three won an Oscar for the film: Best Documentary, Features: Daniel Lindsay, T.J. Martin, Rich Middlemas

At best, Piss Combs is an executive producer of an Oscar winning film which ain't saying much. Half of Hollywood could probably claim that.

Obviously, what diddy and other musician-singer-crossovers are doing isn't "acting"; it's playing their own personas on screen to great effect. Monumental insult that Diddy would dare compare himself to Denzel. He could keep aspiring … in his dreams.

Dude can't act. He's weird looking, I can't stand to stare at him on the large screen. But I'm glad he used his money to support a black documentary. He should produce films. Especially ones that provide uplifting rules for black women to make up for the misogynist crap that made him rich.
