Bradley Cooper and current “Hunger Games” it-girl Jennifer Lawrence are starting production on 2929 Productions’ “Serena” in Prague. Oscar-winner Susanne Bier (“In a Better World,” “Things We Lost in the Fire”) directing the screenplay by Christopher Kyle (“Alexander”), who adapted Ron Rash’s 2009 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction-nominated novel.
“Serena” tells the story of two newlyweds (Cooper and Lawrence) who move from Boston to the wild mountains of North Carolina in 1929 to start a timber empire. They happily reign over their dominion until Serena discovers that she cannot bear a child. At that point things take a dramatic turn, as she sets out to find George’s illegitimate son.
The film also features Toby Jones (“Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy,” “My Week with Marilyn”) and Rhys Ifans (“Skyfall,” “The Amazing Spider Man”).
