Jake and Elwood may have been on a mission from God, but Dan Aykroyd is on a mission to milk anything he’s ever been associated with death for cash. Last summer it was reported that Aykroyd and co. were developing a “Glee“-style TV series based on the “The Blues Brothers” but it appears that’s just the tip of the iceberg. At MIPTV it has been announced that Blues Brothers Approved Ventures LLC has teamed with Panacea Entertainment in an effort to whore out the fedora wearing duo in a variety of avenues that will include: an animated series, a Broadway show, a Vegas show, a radio network, social networking (?) and more. Comparing the brand to Coca-Cola and Nike (LOL), Panacea hopes to bring the characters to an audience “around the globe.” Remember “Blues Brothers 2000“? That’s all we’re going to say about this….
Launching the careers of Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Topher Grace and Laura Prepon all in one fell swoop, “That ’70s Show” was a better than average sitcom that is nice to come home to on syndication at 3 AM in the morning or just after work when you need to decompress for 30 minutes (though the last couple of seasons were pretty terrible). Anyway, most of the cast is getting back together for a reunion to help celebrate Fox‘s 25th anniversary on April 22nd with Kutcher, Kunis, Prepon and Wilmer Valderrama slated to appear thus far. No word exactly on what they’ll do exactly, but here’s hoping Donna shows up as a redhead again.
At this point, you either like Ricky Gervais or you don’t, but this writer is still a fan and is looking forward to the upcoming season of “The Ricky Gervais Show.” Taking the best bits from the comedian’s podcast with his regular cohorts Stephen Merchant and that “round-headed buffoon” Karl Pilkington, their digressions are animated and usually are spun off the latter’s rather absurd observations on everyday life. Two new clips from the upcoming season have landed online, and if anything it highlights that this show is difficult to excerpt as most of the gags arrive from a build up spun from the trio’s stream of chatter. Anyway, the brand new season kicks off on April 20th. Watch below. [THR/EW/CinemaBlend]
