Watch: Full Trailer For David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis' Arrives & Confirms Cannes Appearance

Just a mere few hours before the imminent 2012 Cannes Film Festival announcement comes the full length trailer for David Cronenberg‘s “Cosmopolis.” And yes, it’s going to be a freaky time on the Croisette; as expected the trailer also confirms Cronenberg’s eagerly-anticipated picture will make its bow in the south of France.

Based on the book by Don DeLillo, the film offers the most promising non-“Twilight” role for Robert Pattinson yet as the billionaire Eric Packer who has one helluva day in his limousine. Sex, drugs, hallucinations and more cross his path, and for anyone worried Cronenberg had become respectable with “A Dangerous Method” he’s in full form here, even going back to his psycho-sexual roots in what looks like something out of a Terry Gilliam film inspired by an LSD trip.

“Cosmopolis” hits theaters May 23 in France. It’s likely due in theaters in the fall, and we’d assume with the Canuck connection Cronenberg will place the North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall. Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, Sarah Gadon and Jay Baruchel round out the cast. Watch the full trailer below.   [Allocine via ROS]

Pattinson doesn't look like he knows what he's doing.

this trailer is weird i cant even tell if its good or bad.

The full (north american) trailer is online here:

Wow, this really looks good. Weird, but in a good way. Go Cronenburg!

Ok. Has anyone else noticed the blatant rip off of "Into the Void" opening sequence in this trailer? WTF?!

Interesting and slightly tragic that anyone could "hate" anyone they don't actually know. For the record, art – that thing that good or great movies aspire to be — is supposed to open one's mind not close it.

Experienced film watchers obviously liked what they saw and included Cosmopolis in selection. So maybe, just maybe, they were right.

So to Pattinson, cast, crew and Cronenberg; the fair minded, or even just the mildly curious would say this: Many films entered the draw and you guys got through.

Well done.

damn…..this looks good…really fucking good! but it Cronenberg so….it's expected!

I love when dudes are like… "Wow, I guess he's not a sparkly vampire in real life."
Um, hi. Welcome to reality.
This movie looks badass. That is all.

I never thought I would ever say "I'm looking forward to seeing the new Robert Pattinson film."

D@mm , I can wait for see this movie … Cronenberg is amazing!!! Robert Pattinson seems right for this movie

Roger Cannon

This trailer wreaks of "Videodrome" and "Existenz" which were not Cronenberg's most interesting works.

I think the trailer is trying a little too hard to be edgy. And this really seems to be Pattinson's last chance at being taken seriously as an actor.

Wow. I'm actually kind of shocked. This looks really intense. And Pattinson actually looks good.

yay new cronenberg- wait what its starring who?…sheet…its cronenberg i still have to go

cory everett

This looks like 80s Cronenberg in the best way.

Epic trailer is epic

This looks pretty badass. Very Videodrome/Crash. I'm sold.

This looks awesome! Pattinson fits right in here and totally jaded the way the billionnaire is supposed to be.

I hate Pattinson's monotone voice and dead stare and not a fan of the rapid fire cuts. Pass.

Cronenberg + Pattinson = awsome! The second trailer is mindblowing!

Obnoxious. The fast cuts must mean the acting sucks. Smoke and mirrors.

I hate Pattinson but this looks like GOLD

It's DeLillo, not DeLillio….Anyway, I hope this does well because I love DeLillo and Cronenberg, but Cosmopolis was not one of DeLillo's better works…I really wonder how the hell they managed to adapt it for the screen.

Confusing and it's cut too fast to show whether Pattinson can do anything but stare blankly and speak in a monotone voice.

This looks very interesting.

Wow, this is the Crazy Cronenberg that we all love.

Looks pretty cool :)
