The fifth and last season of "Breaking Bad" will start on Sunday, July 15th at 10pm — at least the first part of it.
As announced earlier, the final 16 episodes of Vince Gilligan's stunning series will be split into two parts, with the first half airing in July and the second next summer in 2013 (effectively making it two more short seasons as opposed to one longer one, since it's hard to imagine that episode eight will just leave things hanging abruptly for a year).
Elsewhere in AMC's summer plans, a new unscripted series called "Small Town Security" will also kick off July 15th, immediately following "Breaking Bad." This is the model the network used in airing "The Pitch" after "Mad Men," and like the former, "Small Town Security" is at least vaguely thematically related to the scripted show it's paired with — it's about a small, family-owned private security company located in rural Georgia.
The network's also set a premiere date for season two of railroad western "Hell on Wheels," which will be back on Sunday, August 12th for a ten-episode run.
