There's two parts to the Cannes Film Festival: the show and the showmanship. While the biggest art films in the world are getting vetted by the press and the festivalgoing public in the main competition, producers and distributors from all around the world get together to hock their wares in the market. A short while ago, The Weinstein Company held an event to promote their upcoming fall lineup, premering footage from Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master," David O. Russell's "The Silver Linings Playbook," and, of course, Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained."
I've made my feelings about reviewing trailers quite clear in the past, but as the great Robert Warshow once said, "A man goes to the movies. The critic must be honest enough to admit that he is that man." As a man, this critic must admit he is feverishly excited about Tarantino's "Django," and as such, he greedily consumed any Twitter reactions he could find from the Cannes press corps. And because I suspect there are more men (or women) out there like me, I've compiled them all here for you. More to come.
"OMFG, 'Django Unchained' looks so good. SO GOOD. #Cannes"
