Men In Black 3 opens today in the USA, in case you’ve had your head buried in the sand all week. I’ve seen it, and I’m guessing Sergio has as well.
It’s Men In Black; not much else to say… other than maybe the one obvious change this time around being that it’s in 3D. Although I don’t think its being in 3D is much of a difference maker.
You’re either with the MIB universe or you’re not; I thought it was an unnecessary 3rd film, almost ten years after its predecessor, and fifteen years after the release of the original Men in Black.
Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 65% Fresh rating, and with it opening on over 4,200 screens, you can almost guarantee it’ll be the number 1 film this weekend.
Opening in FAR fewer theaters (4 to be exact) in the USA, is the Omar Sy award-winning dramedy, The Intouchables, which I saw a few weeks ago, and reviewed yesterday. You can read my review HERE if you missed it (I didn’t care for it much); also, Jasmin interviewed the star, Omar Sy himself, earlier this week – an interview she posted on the site this morning, in which he addresses the backlash the film has received here in the USA, against what some consider racist depictions of black people (specifically, the character he plays); read that insightful interview HERE if you missed that as well.
The film is enjoying a 76% Fresh rating over at Rotten Tomatoes.
The Weinstein Company expects to expand the film to more cities after this opening weekend. I’m curious to see how it does at the box office.
What’s on your “to-see” list this weekend, whether it’s a national release, local, or in the comfort of your living room?
