In case you weren’t aware, Hollywood’s man of the hour is Marvel President and “The Avengers” producer Kevin Feige, who speaks to Bloomberg about what is now the summer’s first $1 billion blockbuster and what’s next. “I have a good job, I can’t complain.,” he answers when asked if he’s interested in the open Disney Studio spot.
After 12 years at the company, Feige reminds that they built to “this event,” and will churn out two films a year for the next five. First up this week is the start of principal photography on “Iron Man 3”; “Thor 2” starts at summer’s end and “Captain America 2” starts in January. There are two beyond that which he will not name. (One is “The Avengers 2.”)
“We worry all the time,” he says. “Is the movie going to be good enough? We want to exceed expectations.” And, he adds, “we take risks with our storytelling. We have been rewarded for sticking with our vision.”
Now if only more Hollywood execs thought like that…
