Nick Cannon To Make Big Screen Directorial Debut w/ "School Dance" (Compared To "Friday," "House Party")

Renaissance man Nick Cannon is set to make his big screen feature film directorial debut in a coming-of-age dramedy for Lionsgate titled School Dance.

He’ll also produce the film, from a script he co-wrote with Nile Evans.

Described as being “in the vein of” recent classics like Friday and House Party, the synopsis for School Dance reads:

… centers on a high school freshman who wants to be part of the most popular dance clique in his school — but he tends to freeze in the spotlight and has no clue how he’s going to pass the initiation.

Canon has directed before – 2 made-for-TV movies; but this will be his first made for the big screen, with production scheduled for June.

As for casting… Variety says the project is expected to musical acts New Boyz and The Rangers
