'Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World' Soundtrack Features INXS, French Kicks, Beach Boys, Frank Black & More

With the end of the world coming, you might think that some truly apocalyptic sounds from bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Mogwai might be appropriate, but at least in the universe of “Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World,” it looks like people are going to get reacquainted with old hits and classic tunes as they meet their untimely demise.

The soundtrack for the movie is a pretty decent blend of radio hits like “Devil Inside” by INXS and “Dance Hall Days” by Wang Chung, oldies from The Beach Boys, The Walker Brothers and The Hollies, indie rock from French Kicks and Frank Black and even a seminal hip-hop tune in the form of “Set Adrift On Memory Bliss” by P.M. Dawn.

All these and more will be on the disc when it lands on June 19th, with the film arriving in theaters a few days later on June 22nd. Full tracklisting below with samples of all the songs on the next page.

The poster for this film is right by the entrance of the tube. So every morning for the past week I've found myself singing mentally "Preaching the End of the World"…

Have you heard of the other up-and-coming Chris Cornell movies? Would You Cry For Me is the story of a man who lures his lover into the desert and shoots her, because she has become a burden to him. Her Reflection Looks Concerned As Flowers Hit Her Grave is about a young woman who values beauty and vanity above all else, but ages quickly, and witnesses her own funeral. Look for the sequel when she is reincarnated as a senator called She's A Politician.

Seriously? "Preaching the End of the World" by Chris Cornell is not on the soundtrack, when this movie plot and its title was obviously stolen from his song? I hope Chris got some money at least for them using his lyrics as the title. I hope the movie is at least good. It has potiential, but then it also has the makings of a giant disappointment based on how they have chosen to end the movie.

Sounds cool, look forward to it.
