Watch Meagan Good, Laz Alonso In First Clips From New NBC Murder Mystery Series “Infamous”

Watch Meagan Good, Laz Alonso In First Clips From New NBC Murder Mystery Series "Infamous"

I figured it was only a matter of time before we saw some footage from this, after last week’s announcement and still photo reveal.

Above is essentially your one-sheet.

As I said in my last post, of all the new series/pilots ordered for next season, this is one that I’m really intrigued by – partly because I have absolutely no idea what to expect from it.

It seemed like an out-of-the-box pick for NBC – one that I didn’t see coming – and I’m curious.

I believe it was Jug who commented in my last post that NBC might be going after ABC’s Revenge and that murder mystery series’ audience; an astute observation there because, given the few episodes of Revenge I’ve watched, I can definitely see that! In short, both series can be considered “opulent soaps,” featuring a young attractive female protag, who’s bent on revenge against a wealthy family she infiltrates assuming another identity.

And watching the below new clips from Infamous (formely known as Notorious), I’m even more willing to accept the aforementioned potential motives by NBC; granted it’s just 2 short clips, but they *feel* somewhat similar to the ABC series – right down to the title cards for both (just take a look at them below to see what I mean).

But I’m still looking forward to finally seeing a full episode. I usually give new series 3 to 4 episodes before deciding on whether to stop watching, or continue.

It’s described as an “opulent soap” starring Meagan Good as detective Joanna Locasto, a female detective who returns undercover to the wealthy family she grew up in – as the maid’s daughter – to solve the murder of the notorious heiress who was once her closest friend – celebutante Vivian Lawson.

The NBC series co-stars Laz AlonsoVictor Garber, Tate Donovan, and Katherine LaNasa co-starring.

Laz Alonso is slated to play NYPD detective Will Sacovitch, who recruits Good’s character, his former flame, to team up and infiltrate the Lawson home – led by Victor Garber as Robert Lawson, and Tate Donovan as his son.

I anticipate an S&A Infamous Talkback series when the time comes…

Watch both clips immediately below, and underneath, watch star Meagan Good describe the character she plays and what to expect from the series:

Excited for Meagan, and her acting has super grown, but this just seems like a bootleg Revenge. I have never seen a show copied so blatantly like that! It also doesn't look like it's gonna bring the kinda drama Revenge brings. Scandal on the other hand?! Can't miss an episode!! Wanna support my black folk, but not amped about this :-/

Infamous looks like it is going to be a great and interesting show. It has a good cast with my favorites Laz Alonso and Meagan Good.

Laz Alonso irks me so I'll bypass the show. It has potential but after Jumping the Broom, I rather not watch anything with him in it. Personal preference.

I like this show already.

I am very happy for Meagan good glad she finally gets her opportunity to shine! For a long time Meagan did a lot of horror flicks and ghetto rap movies. Now Meagan seems to be progressing but getting the lead role on a mainstream network is a serious breakthrough for her! First, Kerry Washington got her breakthrough and now Meagan Good has her chance! I will definitely watch this show. It is so nice to see young black women getting the opportunity to show complexity and range in television shows.

Megan's holding it down well enough. She's no better or worse than the Revenge lead…the acting in that show is laughable and yet I'm still tuned in every 3-4 weeks. :/ I'll watch this one too. :) Homegirl stays employed too! So does Laz..woot woot!

Not gonna last.. she is such an attitudinal actress..sigh

Meagan looks great. She's returning to the actress we all hoped and knew she could be. Laz Alonzo is horribly miscast. He was doing way too much and chewing up the scenery in that one scene.

This actually looks cool. Plus it has Ol Dumbo Ears from "Alias," so I'm for sure checking this out!

I don't care that the logo bears more than a little resemblance to the Revenge logo; it has enough about it that doesn't remind me of the Revenge logo animation. The animation and music for the Revenge logo is itself an offshoot of the Lost title, with creepy music and a slow zoom in of the logo coming at you.

I'm excited about this role for her. Looks good so far!

I like what I see so far, especially Good and Alonso's acting.. I like that Meagan is not playing up her good looking self.
