'Black Dynamite' Animated Series Premieres July 8; Eddie Griffin Voicing Richard Pryor & Paul Mooney

Black Dynamite – July 8th on Adult Swim / Eddie Griffin will be the voice of Richard Pryor and Paul Mooney in the new animated series “Black Dynamite.”

Words posted by Eddie Griffin on his Facebook page with regards to the upcoming Black Dynamite animated series (based on the cult 2009 feature film by Scott Sanders, starring Michael Jai White), which will air on Adult Swim in spring 2012.

We definitely didn’t know about his voicing Richard Pryor and Paul Mooney in the series, so this is news to me; and, looking over old posts on the upcoming series, it doesn’t look like we announced the July 8th premiere date either (11:30PM, on Adult Swim, meaning it’s not for the kiddies).

As you may recall, the pilot episode played exclusively on last year.

Carl Jones, a member of the creative team behind the popular series The Boondocks is behind the project, which “further chronicles the exploits of the central character, ex-CIA agent and full-time ladies man Black Dynamite, and his crew as they avenge the death of Black Dynamite’s brother against kung-fu masters, drug-dealing pimps and The Man and his crew.

Michael Jai WhiteTommy DavidsonKym Whitley and Byron Minns, who all starred in the film, return to voice their characters.

This should be fun!
