Madea Might Be Going To Space To Take On Aliens Sometime Soon...

I love Sci Fi, I love the Alien movies and the Alien franchise. I was very disappointed with Prometheus, but I love that whole franchise. Those are my favorite movies. I’m actually working on a sci-fi movie right now.

Tyler Perry’s words in an interview with while marketing his upcoming Madea’s Witness Protection.

Alright now Mr Perry. I see you sir… Do you! Keep expanding, growing, broadening the brand; but just don’t get too far ahead of yourself now, because, I don’t know about the rest of you folks, but I’m thinking, lemme first see what this Alex Cross movie is like before I jump on the Tyler Perry sci-fi movie train.

As for details on what this sci-fi project might be, he doesn’t give anything away, other than to say that he’s writing it, and that he’s excited about it.

We can only hope that, whatever it is, it’s absent of any Madea sightings.

But seriously folks… Maybe it’s just me, but anyone else feel like he seems to be in a rush to do everything, and to do it all as soon as possible? I almost wish he’d slow down, and take time to really work on and develop each project, making each one the best they can possibly be. He’s just cranking these things out like mad. In addition to that, he has the TV shows, and he still tours with his plays. All that can’t be in his best interest, right? I guess he’s making a boatload of money, so if that’s the measure of success you go by, then you could say he’s winning!

But if not, then well… *shrug*

Worth noting in the interview is that Perry shares his disappointment with Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

Oh Tyler, you so funny. Did anyone see Damon Lindelof's response? He was not trying to hear Madea Perry AT all. Throwing shade all day long, that Damon. lol

I'd like to see Mr. Perry learn about subtext, characterization vs. personality and some form of act structure before he puts any characters into space. He's releasing his THIRTEENTH film as a writer! Shouldn't he know the basics by now?

Also, did anyone else notice that Madea's Witness Protection not only doesn't have a black female lead, but stars some C- to F-list white actors (Denise Richards and Tom Arnold, really?!) I'd be curious to know why the rather low-level cast when in the past he's worked with Alfre Woodard, Viola Davis, Angela Bassett, Taraji P. Henson and many other talented black women. Pressure from the studio, perhaps?

Candles dont burn forever. Also as far as black filmmakers go he cant expect to do this as long as the 74 year old Ridley Scott.

Can we all just admit the TP movie we all REALLY want to see is "Madea Finally Gets A Man".

Miles Ellison

Sci-Fi blackface. Yay.

I'd watch it if it's like the time the Leprechaun went to space.

Adam Scott Thompson

Where's a facehugger when you need one?

What kills me is that he has the nerve to say he was disappointed in Prometheus like he can do better. I'm pretty sure he's on the Ridley Scott shitlist now. If and indeed he did say it. News flash Tyler, yes Ridley's last film wasn't his best but you have never done anything good or remotely close to being better than Prometheus.. Ridley can direct circles around you with one eye covered and one arm tied around your back! Smdh.

Oh dear.

You can't be serious.

This post is outta control. :)

Tambay, I see what you did there.

blah, blah

Pretty soon, Perry is going to run out of places to put Madea. Well, there is Africa…

Yes! Madea in Outer Space! Yes Yes yes!!!

Oh the beloved Madea. I think she makes his movies the popular sensation that they are. I, for one, would love to see Madea on Mars, her brown old lady stockings on, that classic church lady wig (my grandmama has one as well), her strut as she kicks & schools some Martian behind!
