Since first appearing in Jeffrey Blitz’s fictional film directorial debut, “Rocket Science,” Anna Kendrick has proved herself to be a strong supporting playing in films as varied as the “Twilight” franchise, “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” and “Up In The Air.” She’s now finally stepping into a leading lady role with the comedy “Pitch Perfect.”
The first trailer for the film, based on the book written by Mickey Rapkin and helmed by veteran TV director Jason Moore, has been released and shows a change of direction for the actress. She stars as Beca, a girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you. Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into an a-capella group. When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college a cappella. So yes, in addition to leading the film, Kendrick is going to be showing off her singing in this one.
The supporing cast features some exciting faces including Rebel Wilson (who looks like she'll be stealing the movie), Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Michael Higgins and more. The film opens October 5th and you can check out the trailer, images from the film and poster below.
