Watch: 2 Clips From Sheldon Candis' feature film debut LUV (Common, Michael Rainey Jr)

We’ve posted one or two clips in the past, but I don’t recall these. Still no full trailer yet that I’m aware of.

Sheldon Candis’ feature film debut, LUV, which stars Common and Michael Rainey Jr, made its debut at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, in the dramatic competition section.

It continues to tour the film festival circuit, with screenings scheduled for the Champs-Elysées Film Festival (both in Paris and LA), American Black Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Film Festival, all this month alone.

It was also picked up by BET for its TV debut.

Indomina Entertainment acquired the film after its Sundance premiere, with a fall release expected.

The film’s official synopsis reads:

An orphaned 11-year-old boy is forced to face the unpleasant truth about his beloved uncle during one harrowing day in the streets of Baltimore.

Dennis Haysbert, Danny Glover, and Charles S. Dutton also co-star.

The director seems like a cool guy. I was a little nervous about this film because of Common. Don't get me wrong Common seems like a great guy and is a fine M.C. These clips alleviate a lot of my concerns.

I saw LUV @ the 2012 Maryland Film Festival and it was good. I'm so happy that it is getting a lot of festival love. Hopefully Common will get more Lead roles from this. My full review at

Looks good to me
