Before we see him in Michel Gondry’s Mood Indigo, or any Hollywood productions (he recently signed with United Talent Agency), Frenchman Omar Sy (winner of the Lumière award – French equivalent of the Golden Globes – for Best Actor, and France’s highest acting honor in that same category, the César Award – the French equivalent of the Academy Award) will appear in the sports dramedy, Les Seigneurs (or, The Lords in English).
What’s it about? The synopsis reads:
A former footballer living in Brittany enlists his old teammates to help the local fisherman to win some games in order to raise money and save jobs.
The movie is set to be released in France by Warner Bros France on September 26; no word on whether Sy’s international acclaim will help it travel.
By the way, the film that made him a superstar – Intouchables – is listed as the second highest grossing non-English language film in the entire world, since The Passion of the Christ.
Directed by Olivier Dahan, the film co-stars José Garcia, Jean-Pierre Marielle, Gad Elmaleh, Franck Dubosc, Ramzy Bedia, and JoeyStarr.
