'Community' Creator Dan Harmon May Soon Have a Show on Fox

"Community" will be back on air on NBC this fall without the active participation of creator and former showrunner Dan Harmon, who was parted from the show in May to much internet outcry from fans after reports of his being difficult to work with, of disagreements with the network and an ugly public feud with Chevy Chase, one of the sitcom's stars.

But Harmon may soon have a new series on air. TV Guide reports that he's close to closing a deal with Fox to write a comedy pilot: "Details on the show are sketchy, other than it would likely be a multi-camera comedy (as opposed to single-camera, which is how Community is shot)." And even if that doesn't work out, "[o]ther networks are said to be sniffing around working with him on projects as well."

In addition to this Fox project, Harmon's working with Justin Rolland on animated series "Rick & Morty," for which Adult Swim has ordered a pilot. The project's about a genius inventor and his idiot grandson, apparently based on Roiland's "Back to the Future"-inspired "The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti" video, which you can watch below.

Meanwhile, new "Community" showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port have some impassioned fans to win over when the series returns on October 19th. During their panel at Comic-Con, Port insisted "We're not going to screw it up."
