'Community' Director Anthony Russo, 'Paranormal Activity 2' Writer Michael R. Perry & More Discuss Originality in TV and Film at Whitewater Round Table (Audio)

Two years ago, Whitewater Films ("Mean Creek," SXSW premiere "Fat Kid Rules the World") president Rick Rosenthal began a bimonthly series of round tables at his company's headquarters. These gatherings typically draw about 80 people, who are treated to a taco bar and networking in the Whitewater courtyard followed by an hour-plus of discussion about the state of independent film.

I have moderated a few of these (as has IW editor-in-chief Dana Harris), including this one from May 31, which featured actress Dana Delaney ("Body of Proof"), screenwriter Michael R. Perry ("Paranormal Activity 2"), producer Jeff Kleeman ("The Change-Up") and writer-director Anthony Russo ("Community," "Welcome to Collinwood"). Past discussions have focused on advances in technology, women in the indie world and film financing, but the topic of the day was just how possible it is to create truly original content in TV and film, and the differences between working in the two media, in 2012.
