Remember when Black movies didn't neccesarily star a dude in a fat suit and a wig? Or have major plot twists timed to Gospel numbers for no apparent reason?
The humble producers of DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, a satire about being a black face in a white place, long to bring those days back.
The film follows four black students at a predominately white Ivy League where a popular "African American themed" party takes place. Through their unique perspectives the film tackles race identity in "post-racial" America while weaving a universal story of forging one's unique path in the world.
The world's first docu-vengeance, What's Revenge follows director Kat Hunt as she helps her friend, Erica, avenge her past heartbreaks – in real life. More than an attempt to get back at these men, we are conducting a formal experiment about the idea of revenge itself. What is getting revenge like? Can we get another person to feel the way we did — and to perceive the situation in the same way? If this is achieved, what happens next? Catharsis? A new perspective? Closure? Maybe all of it. Maybe nothing. Join us on this (hopefully) ass-kicking adventure to find out!
Bread and Butter is a story about Amelia (30), an endearing misfit and virgin, who starts to be pursued by two men at the same time. One man is trying desperately to keep control of his life while the other embraces Crazy.
In the midst of all the romantic confusion, Amelia has to deal with her eccentric boss, a life coach named Dr. Wellburn, and her overbearing parents.
Bread and Butter aims to be a character study of one neurotic, sexually inexperienced girl, Amelia (30) being thrown into the gauntlet of romantic pursuit.
Hybrid Vigor is a feature film about life, death, violence, morality, immortality, love, and loss in the USSR during Soviet times and in present day Latvia. It opens on frozen Lake Baikal in Siberia during Soviet times.
"Sun Belt Express" is an edgy, heartwarming comedy about illegal immigration, set to the south of Tucson in the Sonoran Desert. The story follows Allen King, an offbeat ethics professor who ends up on a run across the Mexican border with his conservative teenage daughter in tow – and four illegal immigrants in the trunk. What follows is a family road trip where anything that can go wrong – does. And then some. Set on both sides of the border, the film is a testament to the enduring power of humor, even in the most trying of situations.
