Great news for fans of Louis C.K.'s "Louie" — FX announced at the Summer TCA Press Tour this past weekend that it was renewing the idiosyncratic, critically beloved series for a 13-episode fourth season.
Creatively, the show hit a season high with last week's episode featuring Parker Posey as a girl who took Louie on a sometimes delightful and sometimes frightening date.
Per FX's president and general manager John Landgraf, "There are not enough superlatives in the English language to bestow on Louie or the work Louis C.K. is doing. With this series, he has changed the form and is doing truly groundbreaking, landmark work that is inspiring a whole new generation of artists. Simply put, he is making one of the best shows anywhere on television."
The current season will end with a one-hour finale airing on Thursday, September 27.
Also getting a renewal from the network is "BrandX with Russell Brand," whose six-episode first season comes to an end next week on August 2. The half-hour comedy, a platform for the British comedian to riff on current events and interact with the audience, will be paired with "The League" in October with seven new installments. No word yet on "Wilfred" or "Anger Management," though both will likely also be back.
