When it premiered in October 2010, the AMC show “The Walking Dead” was full of so much promise. Gifted filmmaker Frank Darabont was the showrunner for the first season, and turned in one of the best pilots of recent memory, but after clashing with the cable network over the show’s reduced budget, Darabont stepped down as showrunner and the series marched on, never quite matching the quality of its debut.
Season 3 is around the corner, and if the photos in EW are anything to go on, looks like the action will increase courtesy of the prison shown at the end of the season 2 finale. It seems the prison will serve as the new home base for Rick Grimes and the gang, with showrunner Glen Mazzara saying, “The prison itself is now a character in the show. It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening.” Hopefully the new season has more of a driving force to counteract the aimlessness of the 2nd season.
The 3rd season of “The Walking Dead” premieres in October on AMC, and you can catch a marathon of the two previous seasons this weekend with a black-and-white version of the pilot.
