Oscar Talk is Back for Mid-Summer Status Report

Kris Tapley of In Contention and I resumed our Skype conversations to address the midsummer state of the Oscar race. We talk "Django Unchained," "The Master," "Beasts of the Southern Wild," "The Sessions," "Lincoln," "On the Road," "Zero Dark Thirty," "The Life of Pi," "Anna Karenina," "Les Miserables," and many others in our quest to keep you informed on all things Oscar.

Next session: Telluride Film Festival, Labor Day Weekend. We'll let you know.

Check out the podcast here.

Finally, more Anne Thompson in Thompson in Hollywood. My ideal ratio would be 3/4 to 2/3 Thompson in TOH, 1/4 to 1/3 guest contributors. Many of the guests are very interesting, but others just seem like filler. It's like wading through a flood to finally get to what you came to the site for: Anne Thompson. Could some of these writers please be assigned to some other space on the larger site?

It's nice to see the start of another season of Oscar chat with Anne and Kris. Always interesting, well-informed conversation.

"We talk 'Django Unchained'…" No, you don´t. I listened to 49 minutes of this and all I got was: "Django Unchained was at Comic Con. And it´s not a festival film."

I´m disappointed.

I would love to know your thoughts on The Animation category, The Master & If The Hunger Games has a shot at Oscars. I loved your discussion of DKR. I actually think Bale might be in for a chance at Acting Nod.
