'Venus And Serena' A Feature Documentary To World Premiere At Toronto International Film Fest

I had no idea a feature doc on the Williams sisters was in production; then again, it  really shouldn't be much of a surprise. They ARE the world-famous Williams sisters.

Directed by Maiken Baird, an independent documentary filmmaker who specializes in international and political affairs (she produced the acclaimed Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer, with Academy Award winning director and producer Alex Gibney, who also produced this documentary).

The film is said to take…

… an honest and unfiltered look into the remarkable lives of sisters and tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams. Through the prism of one year in the lives of Venus and Serena, the film tells the untold story of how an unlikely family from Compton raised two daughters to be the best tennis players in the world. It explores not only the complex family dynamic, unique and unprecedented in the history of any sport, but also the multifaceted relationship the sisters have with the tennis world.

By the way, long-time Spike Lee editor Sam Pollard (and director of Slavery By Another Name), cut this Williams sisters doc as well.

Its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, will be the film's world premiere.

I have watched them from the beads on the court to the double win for Serana and her sister Venice at Wimbleton. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for them to achieve their amazing resuts.,They are truly a marvelous represenative and an example of what one can do despite of where society might consider their place…..Bravo

I hope that it will explore the unnecessary racism that they face at the tournaments.

So glad the sisters will be able to tell their own story.

I was already a tennis fan but when these two came along as children and I saw them hit the ball with such focus and power (this was before the beads) on that 60 Minutes feature, I knew when they eventually went pro, the tennis stratosphere would never be the same.

Absolutely have loved these ladies for years!

No vaccine, no safe treatment, no cure, no questions after 30 years ! Isn't something awry? In House of Numbers: Anatomy of an Epidemic, an AIDS film like no other, the HIV/AIDS story is being rewritten. This is the first film to present the uncensored POVs of virtually all the major players; in their own settings, in their own words. It rocks the foundaton upon which all conventional
wisdom regarding ‘HIV/AIDS’ is based. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p-ttLfkZHQ
