Watch: Full 'Skyfall' Trailer Looks Just Like A 21st Century James Bond Movie

Bah-humbug! I’m probably in the minority when I say that the all-new new James Bond just hasn’t quite grown on me. I prefer the old-school 007 – the Sean Connery and Roger Moore years specifically.

Maybe it’s just nostalgia, as these were the first 007s that I was introduced to as a kid in the 1980s, and nothing has topped them since – not Timothy Dalton, not Pierce Brosnan, not Daniel Craig.

I’d say that it probably doesn’t help that over the last 20 years, cinema has seen quite a few of what I’d call James Bond look-a-likes on film and TV, as well as the many homages and parodies of the spy film; so much that it’ll take much more than the expected guns, girls, and glory to impress me. I’d like to see the franchise try something entirely fresh; go with a writer and director you wouldn’t expect; give it the old kick in the kaboose, and shake it up a little bit.

But then again, many have settled into James Bond conventions, and are ok with them; and radically altering what’s apparently still working, might proof disastrous at the box office.

I still say, with great risk, comes the potential for great reward. You never know unless you try. I actually won’t mind seen James Bond as a black man, set in the 1960s or 1970s, as much of the world was undergoing significant political and social change that would resonate for decades to come, as he navigates his way through all that muck – much of it directly affecting his ability to live a “standard” life, and move around the world as any other free man would. There’ll be much more at stake than the usual. It’ll probably feel more personal, and thus more interesting to me. The most recent Bonds have left me numb.

But something like that… it doesn’t have to be exactly like I just described. Wishful thinking…

While we wait for pigs to fly, let’s play the “spot Naomie Harris in the Skyfall trailer.” Ready… go!

Javier Bardiem, as a blonde….. O__O

I'm also partial to Roger Moore since that's the Bond I grew up with. But I'll say for Daniel Craig, he's ALL MAN.

Daniel Craig has the "man thing" going on for real…damn!

"Casino Royale" was the best Bond film since Connery's "From Russia With Love", which is still the best Bond film to date and the best adaption of a Bond novel. "Quantum of Solace" was a huge step down with its poor direction, mediocre writing, and the lack of a good story, but hopefully this is a return-to-form. The trailer wasn't bad. Craig is one of the few actors who's played Bond that actually understands the essence of the character (not seen since Dalton and Connery), so he can do as many of these films as he likes and I'll be fine with it.

Other than Bardem's silly blond hair, everything else looks dope. Can't wait!

I don't see why Bond has to be Black when there are no stories told about 003, 006, etc. We've done 007 to death and ought to start fresh with a different agent. I want my own characters, not a Black version of someone else's. A woman of color would be even better. I agree with the assessment of this franchise in recent years, though. The Bond concept is silly to begin with and Daniel Craig's films are humorless exercises in ass kicking.

Sure Sean was the best; plus he is honorary Black and all… Dalton was better than we all think. If you would have experienced Roger Moore as The Saint when i was happening on the television you could not really accept him as any other kind of agent/spy… Pierce unfortunately is from central casting and not until he is really old and all will he be anything but Pierce. Having said all that; Daniel is very, very good as Bond…he is also a very good actor who knows the craft. He deserves to be the heir to Connery.

Wishful thinking on a giant scale -This James Bond is awesome to me and he is beyond the other so called Bonds -Roger Moore was too self concerned and hardly ever got sustainable bruises. Sean Connery was the blueprint and now we have all evolved and I love this new Bond. And having a Black Bond, well look who the rights holder is and that will never happen -ever, that family has held onto the rights forever and will pass it right on down to the sons and daughters !!!
