Watch: New U.S. Trailer for David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis'

Up until now we’ve only been treated to international trailers and teasers for David Cronenberg’s latest “Cosmopolis,” starring “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson. Now with the August 17 theatrical release date looming, a U.S. trailer has premiered to give a clearer look at what to expect.

“Cosmopolis,” which co-stars Paul Giamatti, Sarah Gadon, Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric and Kevin Duran, is based on Don DeLillo novel, and centers on a Wall Street tycoon (Pattinson) whose world begins to collapse as the stock market crashes during a long limo ride across Manhattan.

Upon premiering in Cannes earlier this year, the thriller received mostly mixed reviews. Our own Eric Kohn wrote: “Pattinson holds his own without exactly broadening his range. By simply taking the part, his presence has the dissonance of a James Franco performance act, at once thoroughly underwhelming and emboldened by the meta mystery of his attraction to the project. As a journalist at the movie’s Cannes press conference pointed out, while not a literal vampire, Packer is certainly a blood-sucking capitalist.”

Okay Julie, get up off your knees. If RPatz actually showed some talent he would get praise for it.

Though I can see the comparison of Eric Packer with a blood sucking capitalist, I really don't understand the need to put the 'vampire' thing up,every time Robert Pattinson promotes a new movie. He played the role of a vampire as he has played other roles, why this silly behavior of intelligent critics? It's like they're more obsessed than the fans of this franchise :)
Are they going to reference to Jack Sparrow too, every time Depp promotes a new movie? Does Christian Bale get the same treatment concerning Batman?
I'd like critics to grow up and look at independently at each project of an actor/actress.
