3 Finalists Announced In South Africa’s Next Top Filmmaker 2012 Competition

3 Finalists Announced In South Africa's Next Top Filmmaker 2012 Competition

Catching up on my emails today… here’s one that I missed from July (the 3 finalists above):

Entries for South Africa’s Next Top Filmmaker 2012 are now closed.

We had a fantastic response to South Africa’s Next Top Filmmaker 2012 with over 250 entries and more than 70 submissions of proposals. Our panel of judges whittled the proposals down to 15 that were presented by our young filmmakers to ourpanel of judges on Saturday 7 July 2012.

Our panel consisted of Mariki Van der Walt and JP Potgieter from Quizzical Pictures, Anton Burggraaf from Ochre Moving Pictures and Tracy-Ann Van Rooyen and Bev Ditsie from Endemol South Africa.

Our judges were amazed at the level of talent and creativity displayed by our semi-finalists, some of whom came from as far away as Limpopo and the Eastern Cape. After a very tough deliberation we finally settled on the three finalists who will go on to produce a pilot for their proposed series under the mentorship of our partner companies, Quizzical Pictures, Ochre Moving Pictures and Endemol South Africa.

The finalists are: Mondli Magenuka who will be working with Endemol South Africa, Nompumelelo Tshabalala who will be working with OchreMoving Pictures and Tebogo Kgakoa who will be working with Curious Pictures.

Congratulations to our finalists and many thanks to all the talented young filmmakers who came along and shared their ideas with us on Saturday!

South Africa’s Next Top Filmmaker 2012 is sponsored by Digitalfilm (camera, lighting and grips), iKaya (wardrobe) Finetune Audio (final mix), The Bladeworks (grade and online).
