Documentary Channel Will Premiere 'Mighty Jerome' For USA Audiences (From 'Nurse.Fighter.Boy' Director)

The Documentary Channel is primarily available through satellite television services DISH Network (Channel 197) and DIRECTV (Channel 267).

A project we first alerted you early last year when it was announced that it would screen at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto… Nurse.Fighter.Boy director Charles Officer's follow-up to that film, a feature-length documentary titled Mighty Jerome.

Mighty Jerome documents the rise, fall and redemption of Harry Jerome – the Canadian track and field star, and one of that country's greatest athletes.

This production utilizes monochrome film imagery, interviews and rare archival footage to tell the compelling story of what Jerome’s coach, the legendary Bill Bowerman, called "the greatest comeback in track and field history."

The film is produced by Selwyn Jacob, supported by the National Film Board of Canada.

Mighty Jerome also features an Original Soundtrack by composer Schaun Tozer.

Thus far, it's only screened in parts of Canada (mostly festivals), although it was broadcast on Seatle's PBS affiliate KCTS, which helped make it eligible for the regional Emmy award.

Mighty Jerome is now available in Canada on DVD, and as a digital download. Luckily, Canada is in the same region (1) as the USA, so those in the US (and Canada) who'd like to see the film, can pick it up on DVD HERE, for about $25.

For those with the Documentary Channel, it premieres next week Tuesday, August 28, at 8PM.

The channel released a new trailer earlier today, ahead of next week's premiere; watch it below:
