Michonne Gets Her Own EW Cover This Week

Michonne Gets Her Own EW Cover This Week

The Walking Dead season 3, episode 1 will air on SundayOctober 14, at 9pm, as announced by producer Glen Mazzara during the hit show’s Comic-Con panel last month, where a preview of season 3 was shown to fans who were present (it’s embedded below if you haven’t seen it).

Also revealed during the panel was that season 3 would air in two 8-episode parts – the first starting on October 14, and the second beginning in February 2013

Series executive producer Gale Ann Hurd added: Michonne kicks ass with a katanna sword. The intensity level is incredible…

Looking forward to it.

Something tells me that Danai Gurira’s life is about change in a major way. All the excitement and anticipation since it was announced months ago that she will be playing Michonne. The pressure that she might be feeling… but it all must be thrilling to be suddenly thrust onto the world stage like this – although she’s been at this (acting, writing – she’s also a playwright) for a few years now.

Look for her in Andrew Dosunmu’s upcoming feature Ma’George, which is currently in post-production. She stars in it.

Entertainment Weekly’s issue this week will come in 4 different covers featuring characters from The Walking Dead, which you can see below, and guess who one of them is?

Ernest Dickerson is directing the premiere episode for season 3.

Here are the 4 covers (courtesy of Superhero Hype); underneath, you’ll find the 4-minute preview:

Danai is amazing as both and actress and writer. She also looks hot and has perfect skin, so could they show some respect and make her action figure somewhat like her as well as dark as she is. Looks like they modeled its flesh tone off Halle.

Why does it take white directors or producers to cast a dark female principle? None of the brothers were doing it. From Cicely Tyson, Regina Taylor, Jill Marie Jones to Viola Davis and now Danai, seems to me black producers / directors never cast any woman darker than their male leads and usually several shades lighter. Now I've nothing against lighter sisters but the extent of casting choices these days is such that if I were from outerspace and the only information I had on black American culture was TV, I'd deduce the way tell the difference between male and females is the females are light.

So I celebrate Danai's intro into the big leagues. Just please Hollywood, don't desexualize her like you've always done with dark sisters (exception Tyra Ferrel). She's fine, so give her the full three dimensions instead of just an as$ kickin bit&h.

Well, one of the covers answered if that brother was alive or dead. I've stayed away from plot points for a while. It was only a matter of time.

The covers look really cool.

So proud of Danai!!! She's an awesome actress one of the best for sure!!

I haven't seen the show, but congrats to her :)
