In case you didn’t already know, Netflix is now streaming the first seasons of two TV shows we’ve highlighted on this blog – which co-star Common and Malik Yoba – especially as both embark on second seasons (one already started).
I’m talking about, first, AMC’s post-Civil War drama series titled Hell On Wheels, one of several Civil War-themed projects (TV and film) either in development at various studios, or already on the air, which co-stars rapper-turned-actor Common, who plays a character named Elam – a freed, bi-racial slave who heads west to find work, while also hoping to find his place in society, as he doesn’t feel that he fits squarely into either the “black world” or the “white world.”
And second, the Syfy Channel series called Alphas, which follows a team of ordinary people with extraordinary and unusual mental skills.
The cast of “ordinary people” includes of David Strathairn, Malik Yoba, and a few others.
It’s no coincidence that the series was written by Zak Penn, who also wrote the screenplay for 2 X-Men movies.
Malik Yoba plays the 2nd in command of the Alphas, Bill Harken, described as “a former FBI agent who can summon his “fight or flight” instinct on-demand, giving him super-strength. But it’s more like he can push cars than lift them over his head.”
Season 2 of Alphas began on July 23; while season 2 of Hell On Wheels begins this Sunday, August 12 at 9 pm ET.
So, for those with Netflix accounts, you can now catch up with both series right now, just a few clicks away, especially before Hell On Wheels season 2 begins this Sunday.
I’m going to get to work on both, since I’m behind.
