Olympic Gymnast Gabby Douglas Will Sit Down w/ Oprah Winfrey For Candid Conversation On OWN

Not a reality TV show… not yet anyway… I wonder if Oprah will bring up the hair nonsense that took over Twitter last week.

From the press release:

Interview To Air Sunday, August 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network

On the heels of gymnast Gabby Douglas’ victorious Olympic experience in London winning gold medals in both the individual all-around and team competitions, Oprah Winfrey sits down with the 16-year-old for a candid conversation from her training ground in West Des Moines, Iowa. The interview will air on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” at a special time on Sunday, August 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

Douglas will discuss her rise to Olympic gold and the intense and immediate media attention she found herself facing in London. Winfrey will visit the host family that provided a second home for Douglas during her training, and visit the gym in West Des Moines, Iowa where Douglas trained six days a week in preparation for London. Winfrey will also speak with Gabby’s mother Natalie, who cheered Gabby on from the stands every day and stood behind her as she pursued her Olympic dreams.

Iowa is not just a flyover state. Iowa is one of the best places to grow up in and to receive an education. Living in Ames or Iowa City is one of the best kept secrets in the US. I am so glad Gabby had success in Iowa. I hope she has fond memories of the state and we all hope she comes back to train for the next Olympics. She seems like a very nice person! Some of the best people are from Iowa. They are very hard-working, smart people. I grew up there and never remember being cold from the snow. You just accept the snow. It builds character. Go Iowa Hawkeyes!

I hope Oprah does not ask her about the hair story. I hope Oprah does not ask her about her dead-beat dad either. According to news reports, the father was arrested on March 8th for child abuse (not his own children). Apparently the father is not who people think he is.

Definitely must see tv

Is this wise on Gabrielle mother's part? I understand Gabrielle's agents want the kid to get publicity but she's only sixteen years old. Oprah is very nosy and asks a lot of personal questions. Gabrielle already said some crappy things about her father to the NY Post last week. I don't want Oprah asking Gabrielle private things trying to stir things up about the father.

I hope Oprah asks her about that nonsense.

Good move for both of them.

GO IOWA!!! First it's my man Barack Obama and then that other guy, Catcher's Mitt (or something like that), visiting our lovely state, now Oprah is coming to town. It gotta be the corn – huh? GO GABBY… REPRESENT!
