It’s been a couple of weeks (in fact almost a month) since the world learned that Kristen Stewart made out with her Snow White and the Huntsman director and caused a total gigantic meltdown in the Twisphere. The initial piece I wrote The Public Shaming of Kristen Stewart got more comments than any other piece I’ve ever written. Clearly, people are interested in this.
While I’m sure that Kristen Stewart hoped that her public apology was going to help the problem go away it is clear that this thing is here to stay at least for the near future. Not even the Olympics got her a break, and now that those are over and we are going full tilt into the political season, we need a side show and Kristen Stewart has given that to us wrapped up in a big pouty bow.
Too bad the poor girl can’t just hang out in her bed and cry and eat ice cream. She’s got to get out and promote not one, but two, movies this fall. One at Toronto – On the Road, a small indie, and then the big behemoth, The final Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn Part 2.
I feel bad for her. I know she made out with an older married man but she is no war criminal. It seems that people are just now piling on her just because they can. It’s getting mean and it looks to me like people are enjoying watching her squirm. This is a town that loves to build up its stars when they are making money, but is even quicker to tear them down when that gravy train is threatened.
This indiscretion is not only effecting her personal life, it is also effecting her career. There have been many conflicting reports that her role at the lead character in Snow White and the Huntsman will be excised from the sequel to build a story on the Huntsman. The Hollywood Reporter launched the first salvo with a piece two weeks ago declaring that Stewart had been dropped from the sequel. The shit hit the storm so bad that Universal chief Donna Langley had to issue a public denial saying: “We are extremely proud of Snow White And The Huntsman and we’re currently exploring all options to continue the franchise. Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false.” But what did happen was the A-List writer David Koepp departed the franchise because as he said yesterday to Movieline all his ideas about the movie involved Kristen Stewart’s character a “but then they wanted to explore a different thing that I had no ideas for.”
And by the way Rupert Sanders is not being publicy shamed as Stewart is since Universal bought the property 90 Church: The True Story of the Narcotics Squad from Hell for him to direct.
So this shit show continues to plague Stewart with only Jodie Foster standing up for her. I’ve been hard of Foster for her loyalty to Mel Gibson. But even though I disagree I admire that she stands up for her friends not giving a shit of what people think of her. She wrote a piece in the Daily Beast telling people to basically leave Kristen the fuck alone.
