It's been five years since we last saw Andrew Dominik in the director's chair. The "Chopper" helmer last impressed us with his epic 160-minute anti-western film, "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," staring Brad Pitt. Now, five years later, Dominik has reunited with Pitt for what IW's Eric Kohn has called "an enjoyable anti-capitalist bloodbath," "Killing Them Softly."
The film, which is based on the book by George V. Higgins, reportedly pays tribute to the 2008 election and economic crisis in an intelligent, humorous and violent way. Co-starring Ray Liotta, Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, and Ben Mendelsohn, "Killing Them Softly" opens via The Weinstein Company in select theaters on October 19.
