Wolfe Video has acquired all North American rights to director Quentin Lee’s family drama “White Frog,” which had its world premiere at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival. The specialty distributor plans theatrical, VOD and DVD releases of the film in 2013.
Booboo Stewart, Joan Chen, BD Wong, Harry Shum Jr., Gregg Sulkin, Kelly Hu and Tyler Posey star in the story of a high-school freshman with mild Asperger’s syndrome whose life becomes more challenging when his older brother dies. Fabienne Wen and Ellie Wen wrote the film.
Chris Lee, Joel Soisson, and Ellie Wen produced; David Henry Hwang and Kevin Iwashina are executive producers.
“Quentin Lee has created a heartfelt film with a stunning cast of some of our favorite faces,” said Wolfe president Maria Lynn, who negotiated the deal with Iwashina and Christine D’Souza of Preferred Content on behalf of the filmmakers.
Wolfe has recently released “Undertow,” “Tomboy” and “Mosquita y Mari.”
