FilmDistrict Picks Up U.S. Distribution Rights To Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’

FilmDistrict Picks Up U.S. Distribution Rights To Spike Lee's 'Oldboy'

It was announced today at the Toronto Film Festival that FilmDistrict has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to Spike Lee’s remake of the South Korean suspense thriller Oldboy.

The film  starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley and Nate Walker starts shooting later this month.

Though it’s uncommon for a distributor to pick up the distribution rights for a film even before one frame has been shot, the fact that FilmDstriict, which is releasing the sci-fi actoner Looper this month and the Red Dawn remake later this fall, is a sign that that FilmDsirict thinks Spike’s film has some great potential.
